The Earth Prize 2022 Scholar

Ahmad is a 17-year old high school student from Palestine and Lebanon. In 2022, he was awarded a UN Environment Programme (UNEP) scholarship to attend UWC International in the USA for two years to complete his IB diploma. In his free time, Ahmad enjoys science and arts as well as meeting new people. Ahmad completed a 2-week internship at The Earth Foundation in the summer of 2022 and is excited to join the Alumni Board to help with community engagement. After graduation, Ahmad hopes to continue his studies in the USA.

Annamaria Szelics

The Earth Prize 2022 Mentor of the Year

Annamaria was the recipient of The Earth Prize 2022 Mentor of the Year Award. She is a MSc Neuroscience student at the University of Glasgow. After graduating, she hopes to pursue a PhD in the field of motor-neuron diseases and/or neuroimaging. Annamaria worked as a Sustainable Laboratory Promoter at the University of Glasgow’s Environmental and Sustainability Team, where she helped laboratories on campus reduce their environmental footprint.

Kaila Lemons

Mentoring and Career Development Manager

The Earth Prize 2022 Mentor

Kaila’s commitment to youth empowerment started at the Boys & Girls Clubs of America where she served as spokesperson and National Military Youth of the Year in 2017. In the following years, she became Chairman of Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute’s Make Program, a prototyping space for college students; and Weber State University’s first Zero Waste Coordinator. Her sustainability work was recognized with the 2022 Ivory Prize for Excellence in Student Leadership and Community Engagement. As part of CALSTART’s Validation & Assessment team, she now works in the clean transportation industry. Kaila’s personal passions include regenerative agriculture and creating urban habitats.

Chloe Luzar

The Earth Prize 2023 Mentor of The Year

Chloe is a 3rd year Environmental Science and Law student at Macquarie University, Sydney. She is passionate about earth and environmental sciences and geology. After graduation, she hopes to pursue a career pertaining to natural hazard resilience, mitigation, and reduction. In 2022, Chloe was awarded the 2023 Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade New Colombo Plan Scholarship, a prestigious scholarship providing Australian students the opportunity to study and work abroad in the Indo-Pacific. Currently, while preparing for her New Colombo Plan journey, Chloe is working as a Research Intern undertaking a small research project at Macquarie University GeoAnalytical.
