We’re proud to honor two exceptional educators whose passion, guidance, and belief in their students have shaped impactful environmental solutions during The Earth Prize journey.

Nominated by their students and selected by Professor Mario Salomone (WEEC) and The Earth Prize Team, each winner will receive a $2,500 prize and be celebrated at The Earth Prize 2025 Award Ceremony.

Joseph Ogunlade

Greensprings School Lekki - Lagos, Nigeria

With over 30 years of experience, Joseph Ogunlade is a dedicated educator in History, Global Perspectives, Theory of Knowledge, and Social Studies. Honored with the IB School Teacher of the Year (2021) and the Veteran Teacher Award (2024), he is known for inspiring intellectually curious and socially responsible students.

Passionate about connecting the past to personal identity, Joseph brings history to life through classroom innovation and immersive excursions. He also champions environmental education, weaving climate awareness into his teaching to empower future changemakers.

Certified by Cambridge International and the IB, and fluent in English and Yoruba, Joseph is a lifelong learner and mentor committed to shaping globally conscious minds.

Soniya Jadhav

International School Hannover Region - Hannover, Germany

Soniya Jadhav is an IB MYP Science and IBDP Physics teacher at the International School of Hannover Region, with over 10 years of teaching experience. She strives to make science engaging by creating meaningful connections to the real world and different cultures for her students. Teaching in three different countries has shaped her approach to education and pedagogical practices, allowing me to foster a classroom environment where students feel curious, confident, and excited to learn.

Seeing her students grow, ask big questions, and develop a love for learning is what keeps Soniya motivated every day. Teaching isn’t just a profession; it’s her passion. As a science teacher, Soniya encourages students to take responsibility for environmental sustainability by sharing intercultural practices and exploring innovative approaches to create awareness and positive change in society.
