Annamaria Szelics is a 4th-year MSc Neuroscience student at the University of Glasgow. After graduating, she hopes to pursue a PhD in the field of motor-neuron diseases and/or neuroimaging.

From November 2020 to July 2021, Annamaria worked as a Sustainable Laboratory Promoter at the University of Glasgow’s Environmental and Sustainability Team, where she helped laboratories on campus to reduce their environmental footprint and supported them to become accredited by the Laboratory Efficiency Assessment Framework. She also organized Sustainable Laboratory workshops and webinars and helped the University to design an interactive Sustainable Laboratory learning resource for staff members. During this role, Annamaria also became a My Green Lab Ambassador.

Since 2019, Annamaria has volunteered at the SeriousFun Children’s Network’s Bator Tabor. The charity provides life-changing experiences to seriously ill children and their families. She has also been actively involved in designing the University of Glasgow School of Life Sciences’ award-winning Equality & Diversity course and App. The learning resource received the Herald Award and the University of Glasgow Teaching Excellence Award.

In her free time, Annamaria is a super active yogini, and hopes to become a certified yoga teacher in the future.
